[ Agito starts off low to the ground, pushes off on the balls of his feet and takes small strides-- small, but fast. so it's probably no surprise when he keeps up with Akira, even speeds up a little more to pass him when he looks over. ]
[that was all he'd needed to see, that Agito had started off well, that he was still in good, challenge-worthy shape. a brief grin appears on Akira's face before he looks straight in front of him and pulls focus into the run, putting the muscles on his legs to good use and making sure to push himself to keep in front of Agito-- because if he wanted to win, he'd definitely make him work for it.]
[ as soon as they reached a few of the buildings, Agito was running towards them, jumping onto one of the boxes, and from there-- onto the awning, the roof, jumping from that one to the next, pushing off walls. his legs may have been shorter, he might be much smaller than Akira-- but he uses that to his advantage well enough. ]
[he should have expected that, Akira knew-- but it wasn't like they'd set any rules, any do's and dont's. not that Akira minded. he liked the cathartic repetition of his feet hitting the pavement, how centered his focus was-- even if he knew Agito'd gotten the upper hand this time as he saw their destination quickly approaching, Akira couldn't complain.]
[ it takes just half a minute longer, Agito using his surroundings to his advantage. he jumps right on top of the cafe's awning, takes a deep breath, then bends down to grab onto it's edge with his hands, holding on hard enough to swing himself down and settle right in front of the front door. ]
[ he breaths slowly, steadily, tries to calm down his heartbeat. hands pressed to his upper thighs, body slouching over, eyes closed. Agito won, though-- and that's plenty to make the corners of his lip upturn into a tiny little grin despite being pretty damned exhausted. ]
[Akira's right behind him on that arrival, running a few steps past where Agito had stopped as he slowed down-- to make sure he finished strong, not slow down just because Agito had won. he swallows hard, pursing his lips as he paced back to the front of the cafe, beside Agito.]
[unlike Agito's, Akira's grin was bright and wide; and if it weren't for the fact that he was focused on catching his breath, he'd have already started chatting.]
action;
One, two-- three!
[and he's off, keeping his stride long to pick up speed even if he does make sure to look over and check on Agito.]
